![]() What to expect I am not a passive listener and my therapeutic style is active, transparent and interactional. In addition, I often give feedback to my clients and solicit their feedback at the end of the session. I believe that the relationship between the therapist and the client is an important aspect of psychotherapy. In order to facilitate change and healing, I engage in a warm, empathic and genuine dialogue. This dialogue might include several components.I will inquire about your goals, dreams, hopes and aspirations. I primarily work in the here and now and often promote action-oriented interventions. It does not mean that I am not interested in your past; I will inquire about your past in order to better understand your current difficulties and focus on the current events and ways of coping. Then, we will work together at achieving your goals and aspirations and finding ways to improve your quality of life. At various times I might suggest to you additional readings (bibliotherapy) on topics relevant to your circumstances. Some clients come for therapy in the absence of any concrete problem or complaint, wanting primarily to explore fundamental questions of human existence and reflect on life. This is often achieved by the Existential psychotherapy. The existential approach to therapy aims at enabling clients to find constructive ways of coming to terms with the challenges of human experience. The therapy is focused on helping the client to discover the value and meaning in their life, and to accept personal responsibility for their ways of being through the subsequent exploration of their personal beliefs and value system. The questioning of assumptions, choices and immediate ongoing experiences, and facing up to the challenges of living, are important parts of this approach.
